[From Durham] Take exit 273A from I-40 W to merge onto NC-54 W toward Chapel Hill. Continue on NC-54 W to Meadowmont Village Cir in Chapel Hill (about 2.1 miles) and turn right onto Meadowmont Lane. Take your first left onto Meadowmont Village Cir and turn right at Carolina Cafe to stay on Meadowmont Village Cir. The destination will be on the right between the Fitness Together and Carolina Café. If you reach Pure Barre at the end of the street, you’ve gone too far.

The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.

Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.

Hi, my name is Colby and my professional background includes many different areas of health and wellness—ranging from clinical conditions to sport performance. With a Masters in Exercise Physiology from UNC Greensboro, I’ve also worked hands-on with a broad spectrum of people—all with a wide range of abilities. Over the years, the main area of fitness that I’ve seen have the greatest impact on my clients, is their flexibility and mobility. I have a deep understanding of the impact that a commitment to stretching can have on your daily performance and quality of life. I also enjoy working with people, developing meaningful relationships, and helping others reach their goals. Some of my passions include college basketball, Olympic weightlifting and cooking. I’m very excited to help bring the Stretch Zone Method of stretching to the Chapel Hill area and look forward to meeting you all!

Hi and welcome! Stretch Zone is a result of me turning my hobby and love for fitness into my new career—2.0! I had spent just over 20 years as a marketing professional and entrepreneur, and on my corporate journey, had built my own practice, worked tirelessly and learned the value of relationships. While I was good at what I did and loved it, I had developed a longing for something that would allow me to impact lives more directly. That “something” was always made clear to me when engaging in my extracurricular fitness hobbies as a personal trainer or group fitness instructor: I wanted to positively affect people’s lives and their well-being in a more direct and consistent way. I also wanted to continue paving my own way as a small business owner and contributor in my local community. So when my close friend, an avid tennis player and weekend warrior, told me about Stretch Zone and how because of Stretch Zone she not only increased her flexibility and improved her game, but was also experiencing better sleep and circulation, I was immediately intrigued and wanted to “have what she was having”. Without exaggeration, the results I received were immediate—my range of motion increased beyond what I thought was even possible, I am more relaxed and feel much younger than I am (and I’m by no means, “old”)! After several months of research and experiencing Stretch Zone’s practitioner-assisted stretching, I saw this as an opportunity for me, and my lovely staff, to have a “hands-on” positive impact on people’s lives. I was completely sold and knew that Stretch Zone was a franchise I could believe in and stand behind. Our service not only benefits athletes or fitness professionals, but also helps people of all ages and fitness levels — seniors, essential, and desk-bound workers, firefighters and young student athletes.
