I read an article that said assisted stretching isn’t beneficial. What do you think?
In short, there are too many mysteries and variables, too many stretching methods, and too many vague goals for it ever to be possible for us to categorically say that stretching does or does not “work”. The vast majority of studies relating to any form of stretching address mostly two populations, the injured and the athlete. The research largely ignores the non-athlete, the de-conditioned, or the aging baby boomers. What they do not recognize is a more real problem for the people seeking out practitioner assisted stretching. A majority of the health and fitness care community widely advocate stretching as an essential part of fitness and overall wellbeing.
