The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.

Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.

My passion for fitness and finding an edge started from an early age. I started swimming when I was seven and running shortly thereafter. I continued as a duel sport athlete through college, and it has become a lifestyle in my adult years while competing in triathlons around the world. Shortly after graduating with an Exercise Science degree from Western Kentucky University, I was able to land a job at the local gym as a manager and personal trainer. This is where my knowledge could be put into action by helping others along in their fitness journey. While working with a full array of clients that had entirely different goals, there was one constant amongst all of them: flexibility was an issue. Whether they knew it was hampering their daily life or not, it quickly showed when we began to work together. Reflecting back on my own fitness journey, flexibility could have been the edge I was looking for in my triathlon career. It could be your edge to a better golf game or your edge to an injury free work day. Either way, that’s why I wanted to be at Stretch Zone! -Jordan

    Assistant General Manager

Personal Training has been my passion and career since I was 19 years old! Helping others achieve their goals is a high priority to me. Growing up, I played sports and enjoyed the team environment. Doing so, left me with injuries and issues I deal with on a daily basis. This made me realize I needed to add flexibility and mobility to my workout regimen. Seeing how Stretch Zone and its proprietary methodology are utilized attracted me to the organization. My wife, Paige, and I are new to Bowling Green and look forward to being part of the community!

I have always enjoyed being active; as a child I played golf, softball and was a member of both a cheer and dance team! Overall, I have been active most of my life. Today, I enjoy walking, Zumba, spinning and kickboxing! After my car accident in 2002 and having multiple injuries, my ability to have normal movement became a challenge. I was introduced to Yoga in February 2009 and have been practicing since that time. Yoga has taught me how much our bodies need to stretch/elongate. Stretch Zone offers what I believe should be part of EVERYONE's normal routine!

I fell in love with team sports at an early age and was actively involved in softball, basketball and volleyball through my college years. As I began a corporate career, I found myself always planning my vacations around outdoor activities, hiking and exploring across America. When I heard about the Stretch Zone method, I got excited to join the team. I'm looking forward to blending my long-time love of physical activity with this proven method for keeping a person of any age, as flexible, mobile and active as possible!

    Patton Allen

    Certified Practitioner

My name is Patton Allen and I am a recent graduate of Western Kentucky University with degrees in Biology and Chemistry. I have always had a passion for sports and fitness as I was a 4-sport athlete at Butler County High School, playing football, basketball, running track, and swimming. From BCHS, I was accepted into the Gatton Academy where I received rigorous schooling in STEM subjects. While at the Gatton Academy, I got involved with research in the Exercise Science program with Dr. Lee Winchester, where my love for fitness and the body really started to grow with a research study which I was the 2nd author on. This study focused on the immune response to different squat protocols with a focus on determining a difference in response to low intensity vs matched high intensity. After graduating from Gatton, I changed my major from Exercise Science to Biology and Chemistry as I began pursuing medical school. During my time as an undergraduate, I got involved with another research study in the Biology Department under Dr. Noah Ashley. This study focused on the immune response to fragmented sleep, or simulated sleep apnea. After graduation I wanted to take some more time to consider other fields, other than the medical route, such as physical therapy and dentistry and that is how I have ended up at Stretch Zone. With my extensive background in health and wellness, I was an obvious candidate for the position, and I am very grateful to have been accepted here as this position will give me a chance to interact with clients and possibly determine my next steps in my life and career. As far as my outlook towards Stretch Zone goes, I don’t think there is another business that Bowling Green needed more. Stretch Zone has not only given me a great career opportunity, but it has also helped heal and restore ROM (range of motion) from several severe bike wrecks that I had experienced during training for triathlons. Whether you are an athlete, work a desk job, are an elderly individual, or just about anyone in between, I believe Stretch Zone is the place for you and your wellbeing.

Growing up I've always had a love for fitness and health. I was a dual sport athlete all through high school and was exposed to various injuries through my own experience and with my teammates. These injuries really opened my eyes to the world of health. Going into my undergraduate years at Western Kentucky University, I was determined to learn more about why these injuries occurred so often. I was able to find the same reoccurring factors for many injuries, and one was the lack of stretching. Aside from my educational background I worked in a chiropractic setting as well. Many of those patients also had the exact same root of cause for their problem; a lack of stretching. When our muscles aren’t stretched, they get tighter and tighter which leads us to live painful lives and not be able to enjoy the things we could do before. Whether you’re that avid athlete, gym rat, walker or runner, or just having pain from sitting down too long, coming in to Stretch Zone and working on your flexibility could change your life! I’m so excited to be a part of Stretch Zone now to help you reach your personal goals and to get back to your daily life again – pain free!
