    The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.

    Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.

    Jessica is our General Manager at Stretch Zone Dominion. Jessica’s previous careers were in personal training as well as marketing. She learned the importance of stretching to relieve pain when she found out that she needed major back surgery. With two small children at home, surgery was going to have to wait. She started stretching every day and built a strong core to relieve the pain. She became very passionate about helping other people relieve their pain, which led to her becoming a certified personal trainer. The stretching helped her hold off surgery for 13 years. The moment she learned about Stretch Zone along with the methodology, she knew exactly where she needed to be. Her favorite part of working for Stretch Zone Dominion is having the opportunity to meet new people, sharing stories, and getting to know each member better. She is very passionate about helping people feel better, seeing their progress with each and every visit to the studio, helping them reach their goals and just overall having a better quality of life! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and grandbaby, gambling with her parents, cooking, baking, hunting, fishing, working out and anything and everything outdoors.

    Amanda is a recent UTSA graduate with her degree in Kinesiology with a health and science concentration. She has a love for helping people feel great and enjoys being a part of Stretch Zone with its special methodology of doing just that! Her top hobbies are working out, fitness and health. She is also a sneaker head and a pitty (pitbull) mama of two. She is planning to go back to school to become a Licensed Physical Therapist in the next few years to continue her career in the health industry.

    Katy is a recent UTSA graduate with her degree in Kinesiology with a health and science concentration. She is also Pre-Physical Therapy student and has a heart for helping people feel great through physical care. She knew Stretch Zone was the place for her as its unique methodology allows for tension relief for a myriad of different issues! She also has a passion for sports, especially basketball and racing. She loves to cook and bake in her free time and has lived all over the US, being a child of a military parent. Katy has loved being a part of the Stretch Zone team, meeting different people and helping them achieve their goals!

    Chris is a graduate of UTSA with a Kinesiology degree, with a focus on health community and policy. He is also a pre-Physical Therapy student and is excited to be a part of the Stretch Zone Dominion team to get great experience doing what he loves; making people feel better through stretching. He hails from Germany and ended up in the states to play rugby, which he still does today. He also enjoys being outdoors, playing piano, watching movies and sleep!
