The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.

Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.

Hello Wiregrass! My name is Kim, and I was born and raised in Wicksburg, Alabama. My husband, Andy (also from the Wiregrass area) and I have been married 36 years and have relocated many times for our careers. We decided to return home in 2016 after my consulting career was cut short due to a major illness. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Portopulmonary Hypertension. I went on to receive a life saving liver transplant in late-2017. I am using my second chance at life to make a difference in people's lives through my volunteer efforts with several charitable organizations. I discovered Stretch Zone while recovering from my transplant. Assisted stretching along with a regular fitness routine and myofascial release therapy has helped me rebuild my mobility, flexibility, balance, and strength. Once I experienced the benefits of the Stretch Zone Method, I felt compelled to open a store in the Wiregrass area to help others achieve their health and fitness goals which can range from improving mobility all the way to competing in athletic competitions. I am beyond excited to share Stretch Zone with the residents of the Wiregrass area. None of the things I do now would be possible without a selfless 36 year old woman who chose to be an organ donor. My goal every day is to live my life in a manner that would make her proud of me.

    Jessica McCarson

    General Manager

My name is Jess. Lifting Weights, HIIT classes, and yoga are my favorite activities. Going for an outdoor run helps start my day out with a clear and positive mindset. My hobbies are hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and traveling. I can be found at a loud rock concert jamming out or quietly lounging on the couch reading a book. What helps me be my best self is helping others reach their full fitness potential. Seeing someone smile after doing a pull up, watching your client smile after they tell you they dropped a pant size… hearing happiness in their voice when they notice their energy levels and range of motion have improved and are able to resume or begin new activities in their daily lives. These are the things that motivate me. Prior to returning to my hometown of Enterprise, Alabama, I managed several gyms and developed personal training regimens for my clients. Most recently, I worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor/coach at the Dothan Country Club. I am excited to expand my career and help bring Stretch Zone to the Dothan area. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the Zone!

I love the great outdoors - hiking, camping, white water rafting, trail running, and kayaking. Being outdoors is my therapy. I also love writing, reading, and learning from self-help, motivational, and leadership books and podcasts. I’m all about learning as much as I can. My goal in life is to make a difference in people’s lives. I believe that life is not about how much money you make but about how many lives that you can impact. I am looking forward to bringing my passion and energy to Stretch Zone Dothan.
