The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.
Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.
Hello Wiregrass! My name is Kim, and I was born and raised in Wicksburg, Alabama. My husband, Andy (also from the Wiregrass area) and I have been married 36 years and have relocated many times for our careers. We decided to return home in 2016 after my consulting career was cut short due to a major illness. In 2017, I was diagnosed with a very rare disease called Portopulmonary Hypertension. I went on to receive a life saving liver transplant in late-2017. I am using my second chance at life to make a difference in people's lives through my volunteer efforts with several charitable organizations. I discovered Stretch Zone while recovering from my transplant. Assisted stretching along with a regular fitness routine and myofascial release therapy has helped me rebuild my mobility, flexibility, balance, and strength. Once I experienced the benefits of the Stretch Zone Method, I felt compelled to open a store in the Wiregrass area to help others achieve their health and fitness goals which can range from improving mobility all the way to competing in athletic competitions. I am beyond excited to share Stretch Zone with the residents of the Wiregrass area. None of the things I do now would be possible without a selfless 36 year old woman who chose to be an organ donor. My goal every day is to live my life in a manner that would make her proud of me.
Jessica McCarsonGeneral Manager
My name is Jess. Lifting Weights, HIIT classes, and yoga are my favorite activities. Going for an outdoor run helps start my day out with a clear and positive mindset. My hobbies are hiking, fishing, swimming, kayaking, and traveling. I can be found at a loud rock concert jamming out or quietly lounging on the couch reading a book. What helps me be my best self is helping others reach their full fitness potential. Seeing someone smile after doing a pull up, watching your client smile after they tell you they dropped a pant size… hearing happiness in their voice when they notice their energy levels and range of motion have improved and are able to resume or begin new activities in their daily lives. These are the things that motivate me. Prior to returning to my hometown of Enterprise, Alabama, I managed several gyms and developed personal training regimens for my clients. Most recently, I worked as a personal trainer and fitness instructor/coach at the Dothan Country Club. I am excited to expand my career and help bring Stretch Zone to the Dothan area. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the Zone!

Valerie JonesStretch Practitioner
Hey y'all, I'm Valerie Jones, but you can call me Val. I am looking forward to bringing the excitement to Dothan with the Stretch Zone Method. I graduated from The University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor's of Science in Nutritional Sciences. I have worked in retail pharmacy settings, for 6 years as a pharmacy technician, from from a local private chain to an independently owned, unique business model. I have also managed a Little Caesar’s, after rising through the ranks and served the community for over 7 years. Recently moved to Alabama over 2 years ago, where I have now learned and embraced the field of physical therapy. I worked side by side the therapists, developing a new love for movement and the human body. I am a NASM certified personal trainer, a health and wellness coach, and studying to learn even more about nutrition by becoming a NASM certified nutrition coach next. Obviously, I love all things food and exercise, but also love my family, my 5 pound yorkie mix and doing outdoors activities in the gorgeous Sweet Home Alabama area with the ones I love most. I eagerly await the opportunity to help you regain your mobility so that you can have a better quality of life.

TESTIMONIALSWhat Our Customers Have To Say
I have just completed my second session of being stretched at this new local business named Stretch Zone!! This 52yr. old muscles have never been stretched until now!!
My cardio and calisthenics workouts have improved so much since I have started being stretched. Val & Summer are two of the employees there that will get you right!
Go check them out!!
I slept last night for the first time in forever because my hips weren’t hurting. To be honest I didn’t feel like I did much on the table stretching-wise but I am shocked by how much better I feel after just one treatment. I can’t wait to see how I progress once I start doing it regularly. Thank you for bringing this to Dothan!
Kim is doing an excellent job of setting everybody – both employees and clients – up for success! Her employees are knowledgeable and compassionate.
As a big person, I’m always a little apprehensive working with movement practitioners as many are not able to correctly work with bigger bodies. This crew knows and does it without being awkward or making the client uncomfortable. They keep consent and comfort in mind, checking in with clients throughout the session. I’ve worked with several of the practitioners, and they each bring a different perspective that I find valuable and helpful. I’m greatly impressed that the practitioners aren’t just well-versed in Stretch Zone’s methodology, but also have really strong backgrounds in kinesiology-related practices.
Big ups to Val, Summer, & Chris! Thanks for sharing your time, skills and knowledge to improve my quality of life. Kim, thank you for investing in this community.
This place is amazing!!
I have always been “tight” but after just a week with their great staff I am already seeing improvements in my flexibility and decrease in lower back and other joints pain/stiffness.
