The Stretch Zone Method® addresses flexibility from a neurological perspective. This is achieved by dealing with the muscle’s nervous tension (“tonus”) to reach an optimal active range of motion. The goal is not to make a person more “flexible” or “elastic,” but rather enable you to move more functionally by re-establishing a more ideal resting muscle tone. By re-educating the associated nerve-muscle reflex, the Stretch Zone Method® leads to movement becoming easier and more efficient.
Rather than creating soreness by pulling on our limbs to extremes, the Stretch Zone Method® works through the nervous system to achieve lasting gains in flexibility and range of motion. The method rests on the notion that changing and re-educating our muscle’s nervous energy is a major factor in unleashing our body’s intended function. This nervous energy, known as the stretch reflex, is our body’s automatic defense against the dangers of over-stretching. Any movement that goes too fast or too far, or is held for too long, will cause your body to resist with the stretch reflex. Once the reflex is activated, your body has effectively said “no more” and resists the stretch. Any further attempt at stretching becomes counter productive and may even cause long term damage.
Beanee HoffArea Manager - NW and South Reno Locations
Though many know me as "Wonder Woman", you can call me Beanee. (FYI: I do answer to both). I have been with Stretch Zone Reno since its Grand Opening April 18, 2022 so you may recognize my smiling face from my previous role at the front desk. I am a transplant from Stillwater, MN with 3 beautiful daughters and 2 squeezable grandsons sprawled across the globe. I am known as a chronic people person, which not only allows me to make friends with strangers wherever I go but also makes it easy to connect between our two Reno-area Stretch Zone locations for an overall consistent quality customer experience. I wear many hats (and I look good in all of them) so although I won't be a constant at the front desk as much, don't be a stranger. I am happy to help in any capacity to make your experience worth your investment in your health here at Stretch Zone!
I have been involved in team sports ever since I can remember, playing baseball, basketball, lacrosse, and football. As an adult, I now enjoy the pursuit of individual sports like skiing, climbing, mountain biking, and backpacking. For the past 10 years, personally and professionally, my life has revolved around the outdoor industry, health, and fitness. Spending multiple seasons as a ski bum, working on lifts, and tuning skis has taught me the importance of a work-life balance. For that reason, I’ve recently moved to Reno to explore everything Tahoe and the Sierras have to offer! I have been working in Health and Fitness for over 5 years, primarily focused on sports performance training and corrective exercise. I hold certifications as a Personal Trainer as well as a Health Coach, while currently in pursuit of a Nutrition and Corrective Exercise Certification. I enjoy helping others in pursuit of their goals, whether it be to increase overall performance or simply eliminate aches and pains to enhance personal independence and longevity. I also have extensive experience working in Mental Health and have a deep appreciation for mental health and well-being. One quote that lives near to my heart is “If you don't make time for your wellness, you’ll be forced to make time for your illness”.
